TEXAS STATE REPRESENTATIVE
Elected to the Texas House by a landslide in 2002, Linda Harper-Brown was sworn into the Texas House of Representatives on January 14, 2003. Throughout her tenure as a State Representative, Linda continues to focus on finding fiscally responsible solutions for our state budget, protecting Texas jobs, keeping Texans moving on our roadways, and finding ways to repair Texas' education system. Currently, Linda is a member of the coveted Appropriations Committee and serves as Chair of the Appropriations Interim Subcommittee on Transportation Issues. Also, she serves a top position on the House Committee on Transportation as the Chairman of Budget and Oversight, and is serving on four interim subcommittees under Transportation. Linda also serves on the Committee on House Administration, and was appointed by the Speaker of the House to serve on the Sunset Advisory Commission.
Linda was elected by her peers to serve as Treasurer of the House Republican Caucus, and she serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Conservative Coalition. Linda also continues to support her top priority, education by serving on the Higher Education Coordinating Board Advisory Committee. In 2005, House Speaker Tom Craddick appointed her to a national transportation committee where she has the opportunity to use her immense knowledge of transportation issues to represent state interests in Washington. Linda was also chosen by the National Republican Legislators Association as the recipient of its 2003 Freshman of the Year Award, a national award, and was recently given the Rising Star Award by the Texas Women's Initiative. She was awarded the Small Business Award by the National Federation of Independent Business in 2006, has been recognized in the 79th and 80th legislative session by the Heritage Alliance for her conservative values by being awarded the Conservative Leader Award, and was selected in 2007 by the Texas Charter C.H.O.I.C.E. to receive the Texas Promise Award for her achievements on behalf of charter schools and students in the state of Texas. In 2007, Linda was appointed to serve as Vice-Chairman to the prestigious National Transportation Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures. She was also awarded the highest accolade by the Texas Association of Business with the "Champion of Free Enterprise" Award in 2007 for her pro-business, pro-Texas voting record in the 80th Legislative Session.
Linda has served on House Committees on Land and Resource Management (Vice-Chairman), Local and Consent Calendars, Elections, Higher Education, and the Legislative Council Board.

With extensive knowledge of Irving=s unique issues, Linda served as a strong conservative voice on the City Council for more than five years. She kept City Hall in line, protecting our tax dollars and reducing wasteful spending by demanding business-like management of Irving. Linda also led efforts to renovate South Irving roads and neighborhoods that had long been neglected.

A dedicated conservative, Linda Harper-Brown has been a leader for issues such as limited government, low taxes, local control of education and safer streets. When Republicans needed help, she volunteered to elect George W. Bush as Texas Governor and as our President where she traveled to Pennsylvania in 2000 and to Ohio in 2004 as a team leader for the "Texas Strike Force".
LEADER IN EDUCATION
A mother and grandmother, Linda understands the importance of education. Using her experience as a member of the Duncanville School Board and the North Texas Association of School Boards, Linda led the fight for funding the Irving Schools Foundation as President and helped develop the Irving Youth Center to provide local youth with a brighter future.
TRANSPORTATION ADVOCATE
With the Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition and TEX 21, Linda worked to improve our highways and traffic without raising taxes. She made sure DART kept its promises to Irving families, guaranteeing light rail services years ahead of schedule and worked closely with state and federal officials to bring more than $2.5 billion in transportation improvements to her community.

To keep our children headed in the right direction, Linda played an integral part of President Ronald Reagan's White House Conference for a Drug Free America. As a member of the National League of Cities Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee, she worked with Congress to set tougher, no-nonsense national crime fighting standards.

Named Woman Entrepreneur of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce, Linda helped attract Fortune 500 Companies, jobs and economic growth to Irving. Married to Bill Brown, a Certified Public Accountant, she is the proud mother to Timothy, Terry and Craig and doting grandmother to Bethany, Cassie, Haleigh, and Harrison.
